SERVA Violet 17 (Acid Violet 17, COOMASSIE® Violet R-150) is a triphenylmethane dye used for staining proteins in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). It is commonly applied in analytical workflows requiring visualization of protein bands in gels.
The dye is characterized by a maximum absorption wavelength (λ max.) of 544–550 nm (0.001% in water), with an A 1 cm/λ max./0.001% in water value of minimum 0.8. The water content (Karl Fischer) is maximum 10.0%.
SERVA Violet 17 is suitable for protein staining applications in PAGE and is used in laboratory environments for protein detection in gel-based analyses.
